Brewers Description of this Summer Elderberry Beer:
“The wisdom of ages hangs sweet and free from the branches of Elder Betty’s elderberry tree. She is the matriarch of the summer sun, the spirit in our bare dancing feet, and the healer of cold weather wounds. Listen for her on warm waves and winds, as the joy of a thousand lifetimes flows from the earth through her branches, and drink her offering with ecstatic abandon.
Elder Betty is a weiss-style ale with bready malt flavor balances by a touch of hops and complemented by the tart berry flavors of elderberry.”
Elder Betty is copper in color with a head that fades quickly. The aroma is laced with honey, elderberry, and wheat. A moderately carbonated sweet draw launches a medium bodied elderberry beer with a malty base. Toward the back elderberries appear which are both sweet and tat on the tongue.
Elder Betty is both refreshing and unique. It does have a strong fruit presence which does not overwhelm this elderberry beer. This is a great summer patio beer.
