Brewers Description of Summer Sol Beer:
“Sol, “The Original Mexican Sunshine Beer” is a Blond Mexican, light, festive and refreshing golden coloured Pilsner-style beer with a fresh malty, fruity-lemony flavour and a soft, quenching dry finish, serve chilled and drunk in the long neck bottle garnished with a fresh wedge of lime in the neck to accentuate the floral citrusy aroma of the beer. Great with lemony dishes like salads, fish and chicken satay or spicy food like nachos, tacos or Thai dishes or summer barbecues.”
Summer Sol Beer
Sunny
Sol fills a glass almost looking like champagne. It is very clear with a slight golden hue with lots of bubbles and a white foamy head. It has that distinct Corona-like aroma of a Mexican lager with a hint of lemon. Expecting a crisp refreshing experience, the maiden taste was watery and bitter with a skunky aftertaste.
A second opportunity revealed that Sol is much better straight from the bottle opposed to pouring in a glass. It was actually fuller, sweeter, and more refreshing from the bottle. Also, a lemon or lime will help disguise some of the unappealing qualities, is is the case with many beers from Mexico.
Sol with tomato juice sounds less appealing than the original. Great for Cinco de Mayo.
